MDASR Welcome to the Law Offices of McIntyre, Donohue, Accardi, Salmonson & Riordan, LLP. Proudly representing Workers for over 70 years ⚖️❤️‍🩹 By the 1950's Mr. Mrs.

McIntyre, Donohue, Accardi, Salmonson, & Riordan, LLP has a long, proud history that has lead to over 60 successful years of representing the hard working men and women of New York and Long Island. Formerly known as Sherman, Federman, Sambur, and McIntyre LLP, we are carrying on a legacy of handling each case with care, consideration, and aggressive representation. Over the years, the firm has gro

wn from a solo practice with one attorney and one secretary, to its present form- 7 locations, 12 full-time attorneys, a licensed Claimant's Representative, additional
attorneys “of counsel”, and a staff of more than 30 dedicated paralegal and other support personnel. Each individuals efforts' are sharply focused in the firms' areas of practice: Workers' Compensation Law; Volunteer Firefighters' Benefits Law; Volunteer Ambulance Workers' Benefits Law; Social Security Disability Benefits, Municipal Pensions and related matters. It all started in the 1930’s when the late Morris Feuerstein began a general practice of law in Bay Shore, Long Island. Feuerstein's practice had become primarily a Workers' Compensation practice. In 1974, Mr. Feuerstein was joined by Benson Sherman, a popular young Workers' Compensation Administrative Law Judge. Together they built a thriving practice, primarily in Suffolk County, representing injured workers at the Workers' Compensation Board. Their practice resulted in the making of “new law” by virtue of the expansion of claimants' rights under the law, based upon argument before New York State's highest court, the Court of Appeals. In 1982, Paul R. Federman joined the firm as a Licensed Claimant's Representative and was made a partner in January of 1987. Robin A. Sambur joined the firm in 1990. In 1991 the firm, then operating as Sherman & Federman, merged with the Nassau County practice of Frank Samenga, a long time practitioner in Workers' Compensation. Sambur was named a partner of the firm in 1994, followed by Barbara Baum Levine in 1998, at which point the firm adopted its name. All of the current partners have their roots with the Sherman, Federman, Sambur and McIntyre history. On January 1, 2001 Edward T. McIntyre was elevated to the position of partner, after having started his career at the firm in 1997. Richard W. Donohue joined the firm in 1999,and James J. Accardi joined shortly after him in 2000. In 2004, both men became partners. Scott Salmonson became a partner in 2011, after working for the firm since 2005. Sean Riordan started his career at the firm in 2009 and became partner in 2013. Reflective of the current partners, the firm officially took its present name in January of 2016. There is never a fee for an initial consultation.

Real Cases. Real Results. ⚖️

When a Suffolk County technician was injured on the job, the impact on his life—and his ability to work—was significant. He didn't just need medical care; he needed an advocate to protect his future.

We stepped in to secure his weekly compensation payments, ensured he received the necessary ongoing medical care, and ultimately negotiated a $212,500 settlement for his case.

Overturning a Denial: WTC Pension Success for an FDNY Hero. 🚒⚖️

When a retired FDNY Supervising Fire Marshal came to MDASR, he was facing a frustrating uphill battle. Despite suffering from severe, chronic gastrointestinal conditions directly linked to his toxic exposure at Ground Zero, his application for a World Trade Center Accident Disability Retirement pension reclassification had been denied on multiple occasions. He didn't give up, and neither did we.

Partner Chet Paul Lukaszewski, Esq. stepped in as counsel, expertly navigating the strict complexities of the FDNY Pension Fund's medical evaluation process. Thanks to aggressive, dedicated advocacy, our team successfully overturned the previous denials and secured the full pension reclassification approval our client rightfully earned through his heroic service.

At MDASR, we don't back down from a tough fight. If you or a loved one are struggling to get the line-of-duty benefits you deserve, let us stand with you.

Real Cases. Real Results. ⚖️

When a Manhattan mail carrier’s daily route turned into a life-altering accident, he was left with severe injuries and an uncertain future. After slipping on unsecured steel plates, he faced surgery, extensive treatment, and a long recovery.

At MDASR, we believe you shouldn’t have to navigate that road alone. We stepped in to handle the weekly compensation and medical coverage, ensuring our client could focus entirely on his recovery while we fought for his future. We are proud to have finalized a $200,000 settlement for his injury case.

“Si empiezo un reclamo de Compensación para Trabajadores, ¿mi empleador sabrá que lo estoy demandando?”

Un reclamo de Compensación para Trabajadores NO es una demanda. Es una reclamación a una póliza de seguro que su empleador ya ha pagado.

No deje su caso en manos de cualquiera. En Nueva York, las leyes de compensación son complicadas, pero nosotros las conocemos al derecho y al revés. Si no sabe por dónde empezar después de un accidente, nosotros le damos la mano. 🤝

When the checks stop, the real fight begins. ⚖️

In May 2023, a hardworking driver for Manhattan Beer Distributor had his life turned upside down when a trailer door accident caused severe head and neck injuries. Despite early promises from his employer, his benefit checks suddenly stopped without explanation—leaving him in a financial tailspin.

That’s when MDASR stepped in. Our team, including Shane Farrell, Allison Curley, Joseph Abrahams, Tim Finnegan, and Jim Accardi, mobilized a multi-claim strategy that didn't just fight for a settlement—it fought for his future.

The Result:
✅ Restored Workers’ Comp payments
✅ Secured SSDI benefits with retroactive pay
✅ Navigated complex CMS approvals
✅ A final $150,000 settlement

We don’t just manage cases; we manage lives. 🛡️
