Well, we have a kiddo quarantined in the office! So please call the office as we will be doing any appointments by zoom, FaceTime or phone. We apologize for the inconvenience but you know, COVID pretty much sucks. And pray for him and his finals exam scores!

Merry Christmas?

It seems like every week we have a new process for conducting court and trying to get matters settled. COVID has definitely thrown some curveballs at our office, and many other offices, this last 6 months. As frustrating as it’s been, we are thankful that the Kansas Supreme Court has put safety first.

All this to say to say we are thankful for our clients and colleagues who have worked together to make things work and we are so happy to get notes, letters and sometimes even flowers in the midst of the chaos.

Tomorrow will bring new guidelines, new rules and a new process. But today we are excited that three little clients have a forever home.

At this time, we are getting word about the various changes to our area courts. It looks like Pittsburg Municipal Court will be closed until April 15 and all hearings rescheduled. Any non-emergent hearings from now until May 1 for district court in the 11th judicial district (Cherokee, Crawford and Labette counties) will be rescheduled. If you think this affects you, please check with us as soon as possible!

Thanks to technology, we will still be able to present filings to the court, draft/file motions, etc. We can also use technology to conduct mediations, meetings and conferences.

In the meantime, we are happy to meet you at the office or schedule a phone conference to assess your case and see if any portion of it can be completed without court appearance.

Tisha will be reaching out to clients that are affected and getting new dates. We hate that this will affect resolution in scheduled cases but know these tough decisions are doing what is best to slow the spread of the virus.

The office will be closed from Tuesday at 4 pm until Monday morning at 9 am. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

Happy from Green Hall! We can't say thank you enough to the legal professionals who defend the Constitution, prepare estate plans, help form businesses, do pro bono cases, complete adoptions, aid asylum seekers, prosecute crime, defend the wrongfully convicted, teach and so much more.

Do you know a lawyer who has been a hero in your life? We'd love to hear about it!
