A former DNA analyst with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation changed her plea to guilty in court on Tuesday to four charges, as part of an agreement in which prosecutors dropped 100 other counts she was facing.

Some experts come into court only when they are needed to testify. They don't know the case inside and out.

When the military hires an expert, that expert is present in the courtroom from voir dire to verdict. They have already reviewed all of the witness statements.
