The Batesville Community School Corporation has once again achieved a top pass rate for the IREAD assessment for the 2025-26 school year.
Batesville Intermediate School third graders took the assessment this past spring as part of Indiana’s required literacy benchmark. An outstanding 98.8% of students demonstrated reading proficiency, continuing a long-standing record of success at the Batesville public schools.
“Last year’s third-grade students worked hard to prepare for this assessment, and we are so proud of them,” said BCSC Superintendent Dr. Katy Eastes. “A special thank you goes out to the entire team of Pre-K to third grade educators and staff at Batesville Primary School and Batesville Intermediate School, who were instrumental in helping these students reach this goal. With the strong partnership between educators and our Bulldog families supporting them at home, our students are capable of achieving learning goals like this.”
Statewide, literacy rates among third graders increased for the fifth consecutive year and, for the first time, exceeded pre-pandemic pass rates.
