🚨 Scam Alert – North Mississippi 🚨

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi has reported an increase in scam and cyber-enabled fraud activity impacting individuals and businesses in our area.

These scams often involve:
• Fake warrants or arrest threats
• Demands for immediate payment
• Business email compromise
• Impersonation of government agencies

If you or someone you know has sent money due to a scam:

✅ File a complaint immediately at www.ic3.gov

✅ Report it within 72 hours if possible
✅ Contact your bank’s fraud department and request a SWIFT recall notice

When reported quickly, the FBI’s Recovery Asset Team may be able to freeze stolen funds through what’s called the Financial Fraud Kill Chain process.

Cryptocurrency-related fraud is significantly harder to recover — which makes early reporting even more critical.

Scammers rely on fear and urgency. Slow down. Verify. Call someone you trust.
