Most of us love our pets very much, even if they do spend all night barking at barking and whining at things only they can see. An interesting law in Vermont—20 V.S.A. §3541a—provides that one is not responsible for a “feral animal that takes up residence in a building other than the person’s home, even if the person occasionally provides feed to the animal.”

This is not quite a get‑out‑of‑jail card, however, for the feral beasts currently occupying my house (see exhibit 1 below, aka the Justice Puppies™️).

Please don’t bother with sites like Lawyer-dot-com. What these sites do is take your information and then hawk it for hundreds of dollars to lawyers that pay for leads. We’re not judging that (well, that much) but you’ll have much better luck finding the right lawyer for your case by asking your friends, family, or a lawyer you know. The state bar association usually runs a referral service if you’re stuck. Our firm is always happy to make recommendations too. But we’ll never buy a lead.

Now, we just don’t do that. If you’re looking for a lawyer, please don’t use sites that sell your information. Call a lawyer’s office directly. There’re a lot of cases we don’t handle but we’re always willing to refer you to someone that handles what you need handled.
