Many people believe that having a simple Last Will and Testament is enough to keep their family out of court. Unfortunately, a Will is actually an open invitation to probate court. ⚖️

Probate is the court-supervised process of distributing your assets after you pass away. It can easily drag on for up to one year (or longer), drain thousands of dollars from your estate in court fees, and open up your private family matters to the public record.

The good news? Probate is entirely avoidable if you put the right legal structures in place now.

Join us for our upcoming, in-person educational workshop: Estate Planning 101: Probate & How to Avoid It.

We will cover:
✅ Why a Will alone does not prevent the probate process.
✅ How a Living Trust can seamlessly pass assets to your heirs privately and instantly.
✅ Practical steps to protect your family from unnecessary court delays and expenses.

Can my children manage my finances if I’m incapacitated?

Not automatically. Without a properly executed power of attorney, your children may have no legal authority to act on your behalf. This often leads to court involvement. Planning ensures help is available when needed.

If you want to avoid putting your children in that position, click the link below to schedule your complimentary 15-minute strategy session.

Today, I pause in solemn remembrance and deep gratitude.

I was raised in a military family and am also the spouse of a wartime veteran. Because of that, I have experienced firsthand the sacrifices that military service places not only upon those who serve, but also upon the families who stand beside them. The long separations. The uncertainty. The emotional burdens carried quietly and honorably. And for far too many families, the ultimate sacrifice.

One military tradition that has always deeply moved me is the Missing Man Table. Though small in size, its symbolism speaks volumes. Every item placed upon that table represents those who are missing, fallen, or held captive — heroes who are not present, but who are never forgotten. The empty chair reminds us that some never made it home. The white tablecloth represents the purity of their intentions. The single rose speaks to the lives and loved ones forever changed by their absence.

For many, it is simply a display. But for those of us connected to military life, it is a powerful reminder of duty, sacrifice, honor, and remembrance.

Today, and every day, may we never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy because others were willing to sacrifice so much in service to this nation.

To all who have served, to those currently serving, and to the families who carry that sacrifice alongside them — thank you. And to those who never returned home, we remember you with honor and reverence.

Why is legacy planning important?

Memorial Day reminds us that legacy is more than what we leave—it’s how we are remembered. Estate planning ensures your values, wishes, and resources are passed on intentionally. Without it, your story can be shaped by default laws instead of your voice.
