🐢 Six Tiny Hatchlings, One Big Journey Ahead! 🌊

There was some exciting activity at Old Lighthouse Lifeguarded Beach in Buxton this morning! Cape Hatteras National Seashore scientists and rangers excavated a sea turtle nest and discovered six newly hatched sea turtles waiting to begin their journey. 🐢💙

These hatchlings will be released by Park Service staff later in a private, secure location to give them the best possible start & and the greatest chance of growing into long, healthy lives in the wild.

We’re grateful to the scientists, rangers, and volunteers who work to protect Hatteras Island.

We’re rooting for these hatchlings! 🌊
