Taylor IP represents individuals and businesses in all forms of intellectual property, including copyrights. The process of applying for and obtaining a copyright is pretty straight forward, but if the forms are not filled out correctly the application may be rejected or revisions to the application may be requested by the copyright office. If the federal copyright is applied for within 3 months of the date of first publication, the registrant can qualify for statutory damages rather than actual damages, in the event of litigation. Statutory damages can amount up to $150,000 per copy, which can be a big hammer in the event of a dispute with a third party infringer.
