Our story is a long one as Jeff and I met in high school, married, worked, lived and raised our family in Maine. Jeff worked within the law enforcement field as a Sergeant and retired after 25 years for a local community police department, he also served in US Army National Guard specializing as an interior electrician and worked in several other roles as an armed guard for government contracts, CDL truck driver, Metro Bus Operator, owner of his own lawn care business and ran seasonal beach business. Sandra worked in the field of healthcare and completed a BS Degree in Health Services Management from the University of New England which lead to over 35 years of work within local Maine community hospitals in administrative positions until she transitioned to Clinical Research Associate working for Pharmaceutical companies monitoring oncology investigational drug studies.
We are native Mainers and have loved Florida since our first visit when we honeymooned at Disney and have been returning every year since for vacations to explore all that Florida has to offer. We knew after our first trip to Florida that we wanted a home here and worked hard to achieve our dream which came true in 2020 when we finally purchased our home in Ave Maria, Florida. We continued to maintain a home in Maine for five years between 2020-2025 and used a home watch service to watch over our little piece of heaven when we traveled back and forth between the two states and the updates we received from our Home Watch professionals were always anticipated with fingers crossed all looked good. We finally became full time residents of Florida in September 2025. Jeff and I still return to Maine for short visits to see our parents, children, grandchildren and friends.
You may wonder how we chose Ave Maria to buy our dream home ... this came to be in 2017 as we had great friends who asked us to check out their new home and town of Ave Maria and we continued to return to Ave Maria until we finally purchased our own home in 2020 and since then we have introduced other friends from New England to Ave Maria who have purchased and rented homes within Del Webb, Bellera and The National. Some of our New England friends recently purchased homes "to be built" and it became our routine between this April-August to drive our golf cart almost every evening over to the sites to take pictures of the construction and send these pictures to our friends. The excitement and awe in our friend's reactions upon receipt of our videos, pictures and commentaries were priceless and it made us happy to make others happy. It felt like a special honor to be helping our friends see their dream home come to life while they were over two thousand miles away from Ave Maria.
Jeff and I were realizing the exchange and fun was soon going to end and it struck us almost like the lightening storms we have here in Florida that they are going to need someone to watch their homes after the construction ends. We knew at that moment we could still be their eyes and continue to watch over their homes just in different manner and that would be of a Home Watch Reporter and this is how Egret Eye Home Watch came to be.
How we chose our business name comes from a combination of what we love... we absolutely love Florida wildlife, Florida sunsets and our Florida home. Our logo of the Snowy Egret over looking a beautiful home at sunset was created to capture all of things we love. We hope our future clients will look at our logo and know there is a caring couple who took what they love and turned it into a business to help their neighbors while they are away from home.
Jeffrey and Sandra will conduct home watch visits looking for signs of property damage, providing written reports via email including photos following each visit for your peace of mind.
