All morning during pro bono consultations I’ve heard heartbreaking stories from many people who don’t have feasible immigration pathways & families separated from loved ones by ICE detentions. My spirits soared when Sara Cortez saw me & said “Abogado Parsons!” She let me know how grateful she is that I qualified her for green card status 26 years ago. It’s a great feeling to encounter former clients like Sara who remind me of our successfully completed efforts.

One of the best parts of immigration law is getting to know our clients (& sometimes parts of their love stories). Gerhard de Jager met Pam Clements in their native country (South Africa) when she was in high school & he’d started college. They were sweethearts for years but life took them on separate pathways. Forty years elapsed until they finally they got back together! Pam had immigrated to the U.S. and acquired U.S. citizenship. Today I got to hand them Gerhards’ green card. Now they’re able to freely travel abroad & return to their home here in Texas. It’s such a pleasure to represent clients like Gerhard & Pam. 🇿🇦 🇺🇸

Our country should be encouraging rather than discouraging lawful permanent residents to acquire U.S. citizenship!

The Trump administration has implemented immigration policies making U.S. citizenship harder to acquire and easier to revoke.

Most spouses of U.S. citizens, parents of U.S. citizens (over 21), and unmarried children (under 21) of U.S. citizens with adjustment of status applications are NOT being arrested. But this article explains that ICE has gone way overboard with arrests of countless foreign nationals (at airports) who have solid applications for green cards pending that the Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) hasn't yet taken time to process. Many are spouses and parents of U.S. citizens who lawfully arrived with U.S. visas. They are aspiring immigrants who have never been accused of or arrested for any crime. The fear in communities nationwide is intense. Outrageous!

Federal agents are arresting spouses of Americans, tech workers and others whose visas have expired, including many who have active applications to stay in the country.

One of the greatest joys of an immigration lawyer is to be able to qualify a client like Guillermo for permanent resident (“green card”) status. Guillermo was born & raised in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. For over 25 years he & his wife have been raising their 4 children in the U.S, working hard to support their family, & paying their taxes. Due to our daunting immigration laws, Guillermo could not leave to visit relatives who continue residing in Mexico. Today I got to hand Guillermo his newly approved green card. He will finally be able to visit a brother he hasn’t been able to see in all this time & to meet for the first time 3 nieces & nephews! It brings me great satisfaction when we obtain a green card status for a hard-working immigrant like Guillermo. 🇲🇽 🇺🇸

Our small but mighty law firm Team enjoyed a delightful luncheon today at an amazing restaurant. Despite the anti-immigrant policies of this Administration, we keep fighting for green cards & citizenship for our amazing clients who love our country.
