Homestead exemptions have come a long way. In 2015, the standard exemption for local school taxes was $15,000. Today, it's $140,000 — and seniors 65+ and disabled homeowners can claim up to $200,000 total. That's real relief for Texas homeowners.

On Tuesday, Unlock MLS & ABoR President John Crowe testified before the Senate Committee on Local Government on behalf of Texas REALTORS on how these exemption increases are shaping the market — and why continued growth matters for affordability across our region.
