Of course the jury found the deputies not guilty. There was no evidence of wrongdoing. This prosecution was an attempt to forward an agenda. I am very much in favor of holding law enforcement accountable for wrongdoing, but I am not in favor of prosecution innocent people to pursue a political agenda. The DA's office put forth a false narrative in this case and, unfortunately, led Mr. Ambler's family to believe that the deputies were criminally responsible for the death of their loved one. It is cruel to build that kind of expectation for a grieving family based on a false narrative and then have them watch it fall apart in court. This case should never have been indicted much less tried.

I am particularly disappointed in the press coverage of this case. The press put forth a false narrative that it calculated to be popular with its readers and ignored any facts not consistent with that narrative. These sensational narratives win prizes for reporters but do not accurately convey the truth of a situation to the public. To put it bluntly, Javier Ambler was not George Floyd. And, Live PD had nothing to do with what happened. The role of the press in a free society is too precious to treat it so recklessly.

The heroes in this story are the defense lawyers who did their job of bringing the truth to the jurors. The jurors are to be commended for taking their jobs seriously and reaching a decision based on the evidence rather than the manufactured scenario that were presented with by the state.

Ambler, a 40-year-old father of two, died on March 28, 2019. The jury heard eight days of testimony and began deliberating around 4 p.m. on Thursday.
