Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Hanalei comes from a family of home builders with significant experience in the Austin market. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Arts and Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She minored in Spanish, studying abroad in Granada, Spain.
