As we approach the Fourth of July Weekend, it is important to keep in mind that driving a vehicle or operating a water craft while under the influence of drugs or alcohol can cause fatal accidents or catastrophic injuries that can take or change lives. If you are going to partake in alcohol or drugs, please be safe.

Drunk driving is a persistent danger across Texas highways, especially in Austin where traffic is heavy and nightlife is active. Statewide statistics show thousands of alcohol-related crashes each year. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), from 2014 to 2023, drunk or impaired driving was a factor in 14,389 deaths, which made up 37 percent of all traffic-related fatalities during that period. These accidents often cause serious injuries or fatalities, affecting not only drivers but passengers and innocent bystanders. Likewise, serious boating accidents are also commonly caused by drugs or alcohol and can cause fatalities and serious injuries.

In handling these cases, it is clear that the loss of a loved one to a drunk driver causes intense grief, loss and life long devastation. Further, even when innocent drivers, passengers or pedestrians survive an accident it can cause catastrophic injuries, loss of the ability to work and a cascade of other damages.

Even when we have been able to obtain policy limits and/or good recoveries for our clients, I have never had a client who would not have preferred to have completely avoided the drunk or intoxicated driver.

Texas drunk driving lawyer Jason Coomer advocates for victims to secure compensation from negligent drivers and responsible parties. Call (866) 474-1477!

A Texas Real Estate Parition Action is a lawsuit filed to divide or force a sale of Texas real property owned by more than one person. These lawsuits are most commonly filed by joint owners who inherit Texas real property, but also other co-owners of Texas real property. Overall, in these cases the owners cannot agree on what should be done with the real property or one of the owners cannot be located. In many of these situations, one or more owners want to use and keep the property, while other owners want to sell the property.

We have worked with many families and joint owners to prevent foreclosures, sell real property or negotiate a buyout of the jointly owned property.

Social media has replaced physical abduction as the primary gateway for human trafficking, with approximately 40% to 41% of U.S. s*x trafficking recruitment and grooming now occurring entirely online. Rather than using physical force, predators leverage direct messages, gaming lobbies, and comment sections to systematically break down a victim's boundaries over days, weeks, or months.

Recent civil lawsuits have put liability on predators and social media companies who have helped enable predators. These lawsuits help protect children, teens and other vulnerable individuals. They also punish large technology companies that value profits over safety and turn a blind eye to exploitation, grooming and trafficking.
