A criminal defense attorney needs to understand more than the law. We also need to understand the science behind the evidence.

This week, I’m attending Forensic Chromatography: Theory and Practice ###VI at Axion Analytical Laboratories, studying the analytical techniques used to identify and measure chemical substances.

In DWI and drug prosecutions, laboratory results can be central to the State’s case. Understanding gas chromatography, instrumentation, testing procedures, and potential sources of error allows us to evaluate that evidence critically rather than simply accepting a laboratory’s conclusions.

At Lance Kennedy Law, continuing education means going beyond legal seminars and into the laboratories where forensic evidence is actually produced and analyzed.

If you serve in the military, a civilian arrest often doesn't stay civilian.

Even when the charge starts in a Texas court, military leadership can open its own review. A security clearance can come under review. Some offenses can start separation proceedings even without a conviction.

Ask any defense lawyer what happens to your fee if the case goes to trial.
