The Texas Legislative Black Caucus held a press conference in opposition of Governor Abbott's memo telling state agencies to stop considering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices in hiring.

DEI extends beyond racial categories and includes people from different socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, veteran status, and so much more.

Co-hosts of the press conference included: Gary Bledsoe (President of the Texas NAACP); Charles O’Neal (President of the Texas Assoc. of African American Chamber of Commerce); MALC - Mexican American Legislative Caucus; and other allies - Black Brown Dialogues on Policy, Texas Civil Rights Project, Texas LULAC
