Meet Rowdy, the gentle giant service dog, and my human client, Jennifer. They were involved in a serious wreck in which both were injured. In Texas, our pets—including service dogs—are unfortunately considered nothing more than PROPERTY, which limits the recovery available to injury victims when their best friend—who may play a vital role in their well-being even beyond love and companionship—is injured. I was able to incorporate Rowdy’s injuries, which impaired his ability to care for Jennifer, into Jennifer’s impairment and loss of enjoyment of life.
