Thank you to Lucy C. Laney High School for inviting me to preside over your mock trial in recognition of 2026 Law Day. The students were absolutely fantastic — thoughtful, prepared, professional, and deeply engaged throughout the proceedings.

This year’s Law Day theme, “The Rule of Law and the American Dream,” reminds us that the law exists to protect opportunity, fairness, and justice for all. It was inspiring to see the next generation of leaders, advocates, and changemakers embracing those principles in such a meaningful way.

Last night, I was promoted to blue belt 💙🥋 - totally unexpected and a tremendously welcomed surprise.

This journey took me longer than most, but I’m so much better than where I started—and that’s what matters. At 41, I’m proof it’s never too late to challenge yourself.

Balancing a hectic life wasn’t easy, but I kept showing up.

Thank you to Professor and my teammates at for constantly pushing me, welcoming me, and making me better. Special thanks to Coach Jim for opening the doors for me to train with him and his sons on Sundays—those moments mean more than you know.

If you’re thinking about trying something new—do it. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. You don’t have to be the best… just do your best.

And to the ladies—come join us. There’s a place for you here. Special shoutout to the Spicy Jits—our JJ girls group… you know who you are!! 🔥

Reading The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman reminded us all that the future isn’t something we wait for—it’s something we build. These bright, thoughtful young people are already showing the curiosity, courage, and creativity that will shape the next generation of leaders.

Moments like this remind me why mentorship, literacy, and community matter so much. Thank you to the Hagler Boys & Girls Club for the warm welcome and for the work you do every day to empower our youth.
