🏦 NOTARY TIP: A quick call could save you a trip!
Banks and credit unions can be a convenient place to get something notarized—but having a Notary Public on staff doesn’t necessarily mean they can notarize every type of document.
Financial institutions may have their own policies limiting what their employees can notarize. This can include certain types of documents, services for non-members, or documents containing wording such as “sound mind,” competency, or capacity.
I spoke with BECU in Lakeland Hills and confirmed that they do have restrictions on certain notarizations, including documents containing “sound mind” or similar wording.
❤️ And a local shoutout to Red Canoe Credit Union in Lakeland Hills!
They continue to keep my business cards available and refer people to me when they’re unable to complete a notarization. I truly appreciate one local business supporting another!
The takeaway: Before making a trip to your bank or credit union, call ahead and tell them what type of document you need notarized.
And if they can’t help—or you’d rather go directly to an independent Notary Public—RKP Notary is here to help. 😊
