🏆 MURDER ACQUITTAL!!! GUN CHARGES ACQUITTED!!! 🏆
On May 29, 2026, a favorable outcome was achieved for a client in State v. Maurice Jones in Cumberland County, who was charged with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Hindering, Tampering with Evidence, and other related offenses.
After a two-week jury trial, Attorney Durann Neil, Jr. challenged the State’s entire theory of the case, exposing a flawed investigation, inconsistent witness testimony, and the State’s reliance on a cooperating witness who repeatedly changed his story. Through extensive cross-examination of detectives and the State’s key witness, the defense demonstrated that there was no physical evidence, no DNA, no fingerprints, no gunshot residue, no recovered weapon, and no independent witness identifying Mr. Jones as the shooter.
After deliberations, the jury returned verdicts of:
âś… NOT GUILTY OF MURDER
âś… NOT GUILTY OF UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A HANDGUN
âś… NOT GUILTY OF POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR AN UNLAWFUL PURPOSE
