We've got to call it by its name, Israeli policies in the Occupied Palestinian areas are discriminatory and apartheid! It's, however, sad that there're vocal Israelis that abhor these policies, but those dissenting voices have caved to the mobb mentality of the Israeli emigrees from the Eastern European countries.

Going into last year November election, President Obama was unequivocal that Donald Trump was temperamentally unfit for the US presidency. Trump never challenged the assertion in any serious manner—as he surged and tumbled in the polls. In short, America heard and probably understood Trump’s temperamental qualification for the office he sought and for which we offered him the rein to the mammoth.
I am sure psychologists and others might find benefits to confrontational style of leadership, but, what is indisputable is the consequence of such when mixed with real power. For example, when alternative facts—for which George Orwell, that originates such phrase, described as falsehood promoted by totalitarian leaders, come from the bully pulpit—the effect of such becomes inescapable. It becomes inescapable and destructive to the basic tenets of democracy when a confrontational leader with real power is confronted with dissents. The gradual effects of Trump’s confrontational style on the American psyche—which gradually convinces us that facts—as in data supported scientific facts, are assailable and not absolute is consequential. These, at the minimum, are the real danger of Trump.
That he signs a piece of paper to repeal Obamacare, brings torture back, or resume the construction of his much-touted wall that separates Mexico from the US, and without money allocated to any of these programs, are mere red meat to his base. Nevertheless, our resolve to oppose Trump must not be treated or seen as a simple disagreement with his policies, but, more as a definition of whom we are as a people.

In December, my son bought me a Hewlett Packard laptop computer to replace my old one. He bought it on Amazon and had requested the computer to be delivered to my house. His goal was to surprise me with the gift, but after a couple of days after my birthday had come and gone and without the computer—and the surprise had disappeared, he had to break the news to me. To cut my story short, the computer came sometime this month, more than 3 weeks after my birthday. On the box was the country of manufacture and where it was packed and shipped, which was China. Interestingly, the motherboard and chips were Intel products—which were the US made products. At the turn of the last Century, Ford had a huge rubber plantation in Brazil and a huge foundry in Detroit. Ford produced all materials that went into its vehicles.

In High School, I still remember having to memorize the three factors of production—labor, land, and capital, and to the extent that those factors are still relevant, the landscape of modern production has changed, and changed for good! For thousands of years, the world operated in a zero-sum mentality, with each country thinking insular—protecting what it termed as integral to its survival. The developments then—while there were many, could not be compared to the leaps made the last 50 years, and this leap and bounds are without antecedents.

Donald Trump is not going to re-write the new world order in his nationalistic and protectionist views. The cat is out of the box. I may be wrong, but I am simply scared of being right!
