If your lawyer can’t communicate with you, it will be really difficult for them to help you through any problem. Although many lawyers try to convince people that what we do is “magic”, it isn’t and the inability to communicate with others will impact your case.

I have no idea how the payments to private attorneys by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office in the Trump-related prosecution are not getting more attention. The payment amounts are staggering.

The formal prosecution process (arraignment) has just been completed and the payments to just one of the private attorneys (Nathan Wade) totals approximately $548,977.00.

1. Can you imagine an employer paying an employee more than twice his/her salary?

2. Has anyone looked at the RICO experience of the private attorneys that are being paid by the Fulton County District Attorney's Office? Nathan Wade is a really nice guy. I wish he had been elected in Cobb County, and I think he would have done a great job as a judge. And, I think even he would tell you that he's no RICO expert.

3. There are truly experienced prosecutors in the Fulton County DA's office and the AG's office that could handle this case. Imagine your boss hiring someone with less experience to do a job, and paying them 4x as much.

Something stinks in these payments.

Willis's office did not respond to multiple requests for comment on this story.

Georgia-based defense attorney Andrew Fleischman has also brought attention to the cost of Wade and his firm, writing on social media about how the exorbitant payments have been made "to a dude who has never tried a RICO case."

Fleischman indicated in another social media statement that he found the payments to Wade "troubling," particularly in light of what he described as the "massive backlog of cases" at the district attorney's office.

A person familiar with the Fulton County district attorney's office told the Washington Examiner he believed the payments to Wade and the others were not "getting the play that it should" in the media.

For Fleischman, the visibility of Trump's criminal case in Georgia puts a spotlight on general due-process issues that rarely receive the national spotlight.

"I think that as a criminal defense attorney who routine defends people who are poor and unknown, it is always a weird bonus when a rich and important person gets charged, and we can start to put a spotlight on the way we treat ordinary Americans," Fleischman added.

For those that deal with the constant load of anxiety (like us), this was a great reminder:

On appeal, we argued this case twice in the Court of Appeals, once in the Supreme Court, and submitted at least 3 briefs. It was a long, winding, and overall fun ride, and things worked out great for our client. If you want to read the full opinion, here's the link:
