It has been two years since the BioLab fire in Conyers, GA. This week, Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Pamela Kirkland spoke with Penn Law attorney Darren Penn about the nearly 4,000 people named as plaintiffs in personal injury claims against the chemical manufacturer.

Penn Law is helping several individuals with their cases against BioLab. He told GPB that most of his clients suffered with respiratory illness soon after the fire that caused them to seek medical treatment.

But he expects more, telling Kirkland “I think you’re going to see much higher numbers because it was such a specific event.”

Penn Law’s John Hadden talked with WSB-TV's Brittany Kleinpeter this week about a wrongful death lawsuit in Gwinnett County. The case revolves around the 2024 hijacking of a bus in which a man died. John says liability in cases like this often come down to what was observable in real time and whether there was an opportunity to intervene. He adds: “If there was enough showing that Joseph Grier (the alleged hijacker) was acting erratically as he was getting on the bus and while he was on the bus and the bus driver had time to take some kind of action to stop the bus or alert the authorities then there may be a viable claim there.”

A man hijacked the bus after a confrontation in downtown Atlanta, leading to a multi-county pursuit with passengers on board.
