📢 New Blog Post: Reviewing the New USCIS Memo on Adjustment of Status vs. Consular Processing

USCIS recently issued a new memo discussing Adjustment of Status and Consular Processing. In our latest blog, we take a closer look at the guidance and discuss important points individuals and families may want to understand as they navigate the immigration process.

VAWA protections are critically important for immigrants experiencing abuse by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident family member.

But we are increasingly seeing people encouraged to file weak or fraudulent VAWA cases based on misinformation from notarios, influencers, and unqualified preparers promising “easy papers.”

Filing the wrong case can lead to serious immigration consequences. Before submitting anything to immigration, make sure you fully understand the legal requirements and risks.

Our latest blog explains what immigrants should know about VAWA cases, misinformation, and protecting themselves from bad legal advice.

Immigration news spreads fast online — and unfortunately, fear spreads even faster.

Over the last 24 hours, we’ve seen a lot of confusion and panic surrounding the new USCIS memo on Adjustment of Status. When policy language sounds alarming, it’s understandable that families begin worrying immediately about pending green card cases and future filings.

But this is exactly why individualized legal analysis matters. Headlines rarely tell the full story.

If you or your family are affected by Adjustment of Status issues, now is the time to stay informed, organized, and strategic — not reactive. Immigration law is rarely one-size-fits-all, and the outcome of a case often depends on the specific facts, equities, and procedural history involved.

We’ll continue monitoring how USCIS applies this policy in practice and will keep sharing updates as we learn more.

One of the most confusing things about immigration law is this:

A person can have a deportation order — and still live in the United States for years.

They may have:
• A work permit
• A Social Security number
• A job and pay taxes
• Regular ICE check-ins
• Children, homes, and deep community ties

So naturally, many people believe they are legally “safe.”

Unfortunately, that is not always true.

Especially right now, as immigration enforcement increases, it is incredibly important to understand the difference between having temporary permission to remain and having secure legal status.

Our latest blog explains how this happens, why people can still receive work permits after removal orders, and the serious risks that can still exist even after years in the U.S.

Please share this information with anyone who may need it. ❤️

Last week, Attorney Tracie had the pleasure of attending—and speaking at—the Federal Bar Association’s Immigration Law Conference! ⚖️

She joined a panel discussing key USCIS updates in 2025 and what we can expect moving forward, sharing insights on the ever-changing immigration landscape.

It was also a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and friends, especially from ImmLaw. We’re proud to have Tracie representing our team and staying at the forefront of immigration advocacy. 💛

As summer approaches, many families are planning trips and visits with loved ones. But for immigrants in the United States, travel has become more complicated—and in some cases, riskier—than it was just a few months ago.

We are seeing increased immigration enforcement in everyday spaces. There is a more visible presence of immigration officers at airports, even for domestic travel, and more coordination between local police and immigration agencies during routine traffic stops.

This means that situations as common as flying within the U.S. or being pulled over for a minor traffic issue can carry added risk.

We encourage families to stay informed and carefully consider travel plans during this time.

Last week, our team had the incredible opportunity to attend Pen and Sword’s 9th Immigration Trial Advocacy College in Kansas City! ⚖️

Attorney Courtney Han participated in this immersive program focused on strengthening trial advocacy skills, while Tracie and Bill joined as witnesses in the mock trials—bringing the experience to life in a meaningful way.

It was a fun, challenging, and deeply educational experience all around. From hands-on learning to collaboration with passionate advocates from across the country, we’re walking away with new strategies, fresh perspectives, and connections that will continue to support our work.

We’re proud to keep investing in growth and excellence so we can better serve our clients and community. 💛

Over the past year, we’ve spoken with many families who are worried and confused about birthright citizenship.

We want to be clear: Birthright citizenship is still the law in the United States.

The 14th Amendment continues to protect children born in the U.S., regardless of their parents’ immigration status. Although a 2025 executive order attempted to limit this right, it has been blocked by courts and has not gone into effect.

We know how important this issue is for families planning their future. Staying informed is key—and we’re here to help.
