For those of you who intend to vote by mail this election, the Georgia Secretary of State has launched a new online portal where voters can submit their request for an absentee ballot.

Remember- you'll still get your ballot in the mail (and since mail is a little bit slower these days), we recommend requesting your absentee ballot ASAP if you'd like to vote by mail. You can do this by visiting https://ballotrequest.sos.ga.gov/

The state will begin sending out absentee ballots to voters who requested them starting September 20th. Keep this date in mind and some other key dates below so you can make a voting plan that is best for you. 🙌

Did you know the "3-day rule" for I-9s only applies to Section 2? Most employers think the same rule applies to Section 1 - and face thousands of dollars in fines for each I-9 completed late.

-- Section 1 must be completed by the new hire's first day of work. That means fully completed, signed and dated.

-- You then have 3 days *after* the first day of work to review the new hire's documents and complete Section 2. If you are enrolled in E-Verify, the same deadline applies to submitting the case in E-Verify.

-- This 3-day rule, which *only* applies to Section 2, is often referred to as the Monday-Thursday rule. If an employee starts work on Monday, you must complete Section 2 by Thursday - and submit the case in E-Verify by Thursday if you are an E-Verify employer.

Want to learn about other hidden I-9 landmines, and how you can prevent them? Join me Wednesday, August 5 for a live webinar.
