If you need some inspiration today, check out these accomplished college students who are on their way to law school. Sophia Abedi, Douglas Burnett, III, Siminette Kolodka, Nusrath Naurin and Niyah Theus have distinguished themselves in academics, leadership and community service. As part of our commitment to encouraging diversity in law, MMM and PowerScore LSAT Preparation are covering the cost of their LSAT prep courses.
Sophia Abedi has interned for two Ga. state senators, is a leader in student government, on the student judiciary committee – and is on the Dean’s List at Ga. Tech. She wants to work for positive change and justice for all.
Douglas Burnett, III is on the Dean’s List at Morehouse for six semesters. He’s also student senate vice president, a member of the moot court team and was selected for a competitive prelaw summer program at St. John’s University School of Law. He interned at the New York Supreme Court.
Siminette Kolodka, who attends UGA, has been an intern with the federal government, at the Ga. Capitol, and for nonprofit organizations. Interested in immigration law, international relations and prison reform, she feels a law degree is an important step towards becoming an effective policy-maker.
Nusrath Naurin wants to focus on immigration law to help people navigate the complex pathways to citizenship. A former Senate page who has held several campus leadership positions, she’s passionate about issues related to race and gender, as well as social and criminal justice.
A Clark Atlanta University graduate, Niyah Theus is earning her Paralegal Certificate from Ga. Piedmont Technical College. She works for a nonprofit providing mental health services, is a substitute teacher, and has worked for a food pantry. She feels becoming a lawyer is the best way to advocate for, and give back to, her community.
Congratulations, future lawyers!
