We wanted to share the passing of our friend, neighbor, and Atlanta leader in real estate, Bob Hamilton. While our hearts break for the loss of our friend and the amazing impact he made, we are grateful for his release from any pain he felt these last few months. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
**UPDATE**: Memorial Service arrangements for Bob Hamilton are as follows: 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 13, 2026, St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church, 3110 Ashford Dunwoody Rd, Brookhaven, GA 30319. A reception will be held in the church immediately following the service.
We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Bob Hamilton, who served as Georgia REALTORS® (GAR) President in 1990 and as GAR’s Chief Executive Officer from 1995 to 2009.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Bob joined his father at Century 21 Hamilton Realty in 1971—the same year he became a member of the DeKalb Association of REALTORS®. His service to the REALTOR® organization included serving as president of the DeKalb Association, GAR Metro Regional Vice President, and Federal District Coordinator for Georgia’s 4th Congressional District. He also taught pre- and post-license courses at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.
Bob had an extensive record of service at the state level and was elected to serve as president of GAR in 1990.
At the national level, Bob served on the National Association of REALTORS®’ MLS Policy, Professional Standards, and Convention committees.
Bob was named GAR’s Chief Executive Officer in 1995. During his 14-year tenure, he received the GAR President’s Award in 2002 and was inducted into NAR’s Dr. Almon R. “Bud” Smith Leadership Society. In 2009, he chaired NAR’s Association Executives Institute. Following his retirement from GAR, Bob was elected to the FMLS Board of Directors and received REALTOR® Emeritus status from NAR. In 2019, he received GAR’s highest honor when he was inducted into the Georgia REALTORS® Hall of Fame.
Even in retirement, Bob was a beloved fixture at GAR conferences and events, and he will be dearly missed. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife, Susan; his daughters, Sydney (Nate Huyler) and Landon Trainor (David); and his four grandchildren, Will Trainor, Cian Trainer, Wood Huyler, and Betty Huyler.
