Meet our Secretary Alan Woodall!

Alan joined ACS to do their part to stop the right wing capture of the courts.

Their legal inspiration is Nelson Mandela. In their own words because: “He was an armed revolutionary against an illegitimate apartheid government and later became President after apartheid fell. His story reminds me that the rule of law can be used to support bad governments just as easily as good ones. Law is not inherently democratic or just, those values must be continually fought for by legal professionals.”

ACS board check! Meet our President, Kenzie Miller.

She joined ACS because she wants to be a part of the progressive legal movement and spend dedicated time with like-minded people, having discussions about the law and proactively responding to legal issues in our country. A person in the legal field who inspires her is Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. She’s so excited to see her impact on the Court!

Join us at Georgia Beer Garden on Thursday, August 4th, from 6 to 9 to laugh, cry, and fight back against SCOTUS's anti-choice ruling. We'll spend the night together voicing our frustrations while also inspiring one another in the ongoing fight for reproductive justice. The best part? Your ticket will benefit Feminist Women's Health Center - Atlanta, a local abortion clinic that provides safe, nonjudgmental and compassionate abortion care services.

Lots of tweets note that Dobbs reverses almost 50 years of precedent. Why is *THIS* the tweet that reminds Sen. Cornyn of Brown v. Board?
The Court “relegated the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues—attacking the essential freedoms of millions of Americans.”
Did Brown do that?

Join us in congratulating our graduating members- Manda Torres and Mark Pickett!

After graduation, Manda will be working in family law at a boutique firm. Manda’s law school survival tip is “no matter how competitive law school may seem, always remember to uplift those around you and celebrate their successes!”

Mark will be a Law Assistant at Georgia Legal Services and a staff attorney after passing the bar. His law school survival tip is “try to treat every week like a 40 hour work week. Rather than wasting time during the day, try to keep your head down and work from 9 to 5. Also, bite the bullet and get yourself a Quimbee subscription.”

You did it!
