After a work injury, it's normal to have questions about what to say and what happens next. Remember that the insurance company handling your claim represents your employer's interests, not yours, even when the person on the phone sounds friendly and helpful.

That distinction matters most around medical direction, wage replacement, and claim paperwork, since confusion in those areas often works against the injured worker. A claim can be accepted at first and disputed later, which can catch people off guard if they don't know it's possible.

Before signing anything or accepting a resolution you don't fully understand, ask questions first. You don't have to figure this out on your own. Schedule a free consultation with SWS Accident & Injury Lawyers at https://swslawfirm.com/workers-compensation.

Injured at work? You probably have more rights than you think. Beyond medical treatment and a portion of your lost wages, Georgia law protects you from being fired, demoted, or punished simply for filing a workers' compensation claim.

If your employer denies your claim or pushes back on your benefits, you still have options. You can appeal the decision, request a hearing with the State Board of Workers' Compensation, and get help along the way from an attorney who regularly handles these cases.

Don't let confusion about your rights keep you from getting the care and compensation you're entitled to. Reach out for a free workers' comp consultation: swslawfirm.com/workers-compensation

Georgia's deadlines sneak up faster than people expect. In most personal injury cases, you generally have two years from the date of the accident to file a claim. That sounds like plenty of time, but evidence fades, witnesses move, and cases involving a government agency or certain injuries can carry much shorter windows.

Waiting to see how you feel, or hoping an insurance company will do the right thing on its own, can quietly cost you your case. If you're not sure where you stand, it costs nothing to find out. Reach out for a free consultation: swslawfirm.com/contact-us

Not every fall is your fault, even though it can feel that way in the moment. One common myth about slip-and-fall claims is that the person who fell is automatically to blame. In Georgia, property owners have a legal duty to fix hazards they know about or should reasonably know about within a reasonable time.

Another misconception is that a fall with no obvious injury isn't a case at all. If you slipped on a wet floor, uneven pavement, or a hidden hazard and got hurt, documentation matters more than how bad it looked at first. Photos of the scene, witness names, and a prompt visit to a doctor all strengthen a claim later, even if the injury seems small now.

If you have questions about a fall you experienced in Carrollton, reach out. We're happy to talk through what happened.

School's back in session, and so is heavier traffic. Between buses making frequent stops, kids walking or biking to class, and parents rushing through drop-off lines, late summer brings some of the riskiest driving conditions of the year in Carrollton.

Slow down in school zones even when you're running late. Come to a full stop for stopped buses, and stay off your phone near crosswalks where kids might dart out unexpectedly. A few extra seconds of caution can prevent a tragedy.

If you're ever in an accident this school season, we're ready to help. Visit our website for a free consultation: swslawfirm.com
