Congratulations to Shiel Edlin on this well-deserved honor!

This weekend at the Annual Family Law Conference at the Omni Amelia Island Resort, my husband had the privilege of presenting the Jack Turner Award for Career Achievement to an extraordinary attorney, partner, mentor, and friend, Shiel Edlin, in recognition of an incredible 45 years of practice.

I could not be more proud to witness this moment and to celebrate someone whose impact on the legal profession has been so profound. Shiel’s dedication, leadership, professionalism, and commitment to excellence have shaped generations of family law attorneys and countless families throughout his remarkable career.

Congratulations, Shiel Edlin. This honor is so very well deserved. The practice of family law has been forever changed—and unquestionably improved—because of your contributions, your mentorship, and your unwavering commitment to the profession.

Got a WC-240 light-duty offer that doesn't feel right? Don't refuse it outright. Under Georgia law, refusing a light-duty offer can put your workers' comp benefits at immediate risk, even when the job seems unreasonable.

Here's what to do instead:
✔️ Try the job (good-faith attempt required)
✔️ Document everything: tasks, pain levels, anything outside your restrictions
✔️ Report back to your authorized treating physician
✔️ Call a workers' comp attorney before signing anything
