It’s a sad day at our firm. Ben Jones—better known to millions as Cooter Davenport from *The Dukes of Hazzard*—died yesterday.

Marc worked for Ben when Ben was a congressman, and years later, Ben became one of our clients.

Once, Ben accidentally overpaid an invoice. When we told him and offered to send the money back, he wouldn’t hear of it. Instead, he insisted that we use the money to go to an Atlanta Braves game—and spend it at the stadium to support the team.

That was Ben.

Happy Law Day!

Law Day is observed every year on May 1, though most people have never heard of it. It’s a day set aside to celebrate the rule of law—the foundation of our democracy, our rights, and our work.

The rule of law is what holds society together. Without it, violence becomes the way to settle disputes. The law is what lets people resolve conflict with reason instead of force, rights instead of power, and justice instead of chaos. It gives everyone—not just the strong—a fair shot.

And today, the rule of law is under assault in ways we haven’t seen in generations. That makes it more important than ever to defend it.

At our firm, we’re proud to stand up every day for the rule of law, for fairness, for justice, and for the people we serve.

For us, the law isn’t just a profession. It’s a calling. And we’re grateful to do this work.
