USCIS just announced that people (they used 'Aliens' but boy am I tired of that choice of words) who file to renew their EAD on or after Oct. 30, 2025, will no longer receive an automatic extension of their EAD, using the pretext of "prioritiz[ing] the proper screening and vetting of aliens before extending the validity of their employment authorizations." That being said, please consider contacting us earlier than you normally would to extend your EAD. You can do it up to 180 days in advance of its expiration and best practice would be to file it as soon as you are able. The 'vetting' seems to be taking longer and longer these days. Remember "EAD" is the employment authorization document that accompanies some temporary or pending statuses including (among others) students, H-4 applicants whose spouse has an approved I-140 and U visa principal and dependent cases where your case is still pending. Call us if you need help or have questions!

On this day–and every day–we recognize the impact of immigrants on our past, present, and future. To all who have made the United States their home, we honor and celebrate you.
