Morriss, Shim, Davis is pleased to report that Dexter Jackson, one of the firm's longtime clients, was one of three people nationwide to be granted pardons by President Biden on Monday, and many others whose sentences were commuted. Mr. Jackson was originally represented by the firm's founding partner, the late Bruce Morriss, who strongly encouraged, endorsed and advanced Mr. Jackson's application for a presidential pardon, a process he and Mr. Jackson began under former President Obama. Mr. Jackson's and the firm's only regret is that Bruce, who passed away in 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer, is not here to celebrate.

Mr. Jackson, the father of two children and two grandchildren, resides in the Athens area, where he has become one of the top producing realtors for Greater Athens Properties. Mr. Jackson also continues to bus and to wait tables on a part time basis, four days a week, for a family owned restaurant, Jackson's Barbeque Corner in Union Point, Georgia - a willing and ongoing experience that Mr. Jackson strongly credits, along with his wife, his family, and his faith, for keeping him humble, grateful and grounded for the past 20 years.

If anyone has earned and deserved a presidential pardon, it is Mr. Jackson, and today, we celebrate his achievement. Congratulations Dexter!
