✍️ Georgia Notary Law 2025 – What Everyone Should Know!
This year, HB 1292 introduced major changes to notary practice in Georgia.
If you need a notary for real estate, travel, or business documents, these updates matter to you ⬇️
🔑 Here’s what’s new:
1️⃣ Mandatory Journals: Notaries must now keep detailed journal entries for self-filed real-estate documents like deeds, mortgages, liens, and easements.
2️⃣ Required Training: All Georgia notaries had to complete a 3-hour HB 1292 training by January 15 and must now take 2 hours of continuing education each year.
3️⃣ Stricter ID Checks: Valid photo ID is required, and notaries must record the ID type and number when journaling.
4️⃣ No Remote Online Notarization (RON): Georgia still requires in-person notarization — RON isn’t legal here yet.
5️⃣ Slightly Longer Appointments: Journaling and ID verification add a few minutes but protect against fraud.
