⚖️Today's Tip: Legal Organizations
I think we all can agree that two brains are better than one! Does that principle apply to attorneys? Yes, of course it does!

⚖️One thing to look for in hiring an attorney is how connected that attorney is in local and regional organizations. There are many legal organizations geared toward educating and bringing together attorneys who practice in the same area.

⚖️One way that an attorney can stay updated on the rulings of judges on particular issues and what legal arguments are gaining traction in their practice area is to collaborate with other attorneys.

⚖️Laura is an active member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College of DUI Defense, and the Defense of Drinking Driver's Group. Her membership in these groups has served to be an invaluable aspect of her practice.

📲 Did you know that the Georgia Department of Driver Services has an app? Amazing, right?!

It's called "DDS 2 GO" and you can use it for keeping track of the points on your license, your renewals, paying any fees, changing your address, and staying up to date on changes to your driving record.

For every traffic client, the DDS app is part of our client welcome instruction packet and we educate our clients on how to best use this app to stay updated on their driving privileges.
This is the official Georgia Department of Driver Services app and the only place that clients will obtain official documentation about their driving privileges.

Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day always makes me think of one of my favorite quotes from the landmark United States Supreme Court case, Brown vs. Board of Education. This case was decided in May of 1954, right before the beginning of the Civil Right’s Movement that Dr. King is so famously known for being its most significant spokesperson.

This quote reminds me how important it is to treat all humans, regardless of their color or station in life, with the same respect and dignity.

I’ve also linked in my bio this New York Times Opinion piece that I think perfectly links back to the political turmoil we are experiencing right now in present day.

⚖️Wester Law Case Summary⚖️

• Client was involved in a traffic accident on North Druid Hills Road in Dekalb County.
• When officers arrived, client admitted to using an illegal substance and drug paraphernalia was also found in his SUV. • After a brief investigation, client was arrested for DUI drugs and he agreed to submit a blood and urine sample.
• The screen of his blood showed the presence of an illegal drug in his system, but the identify of the individual who drew the blood was unknown.
• On the morning of trial the DUI was dismissed and client entered a plea to Reckless Driving. ⚖️
