All Wellstar facilities are worse than Grady in this practice, to me. You pay for your insurance (personally, or by payroll taxes for Medicare) and the protections it affords. That includes bulk negotiations of rates because you are part of a larger risk pool that a lot of others are paying to fill and will never need to use. I will be filing more motions to extinguish this type of action until this is solved.

The hospitals are taking away the benefit your health insurer provides with negotiated rates, when you work to keep the coverage. You get penalized with a bill several times higher to pad their bottom line.

Hospitals use century-old lien laws to bypass insurers and charge patients, especially poorer ones, the full amount.
