Do you have a "FLE"? In my office "FLE" stands for Family Law Emergency. Examples of FLE's are: CPS is at my door wanting to talk to me. . . or the Police are here telling me I have to hand my child over to the other parent who is intoxicated or on drugs . . .

Happy New Year! 2025 is here and so are questions about the visitation schedule. For all of you who are operating under a TEXAS STANDARD POSSESSION ORDER and IF you are the visiting parent and IF you had the first part of the Christmas holidays this year, you are probably looking forward to seeing your child this weekend, maybe even tomorrow for Thursday visits. HOWEVER, please check your order and know your child's school schedule. Most schools will not return to class until this coming Monday. That means that if you are the visiting parent, you WILL NOT BE able to visit your child for this coming first weekend of the month, BECAUSE it is technically still the second half of the Christmas/New Year's holiday. Therefore, since holiday visitation TRUMPS regular visitation, you will not be entitled to see your child UNDER THE STANDARD POSSESSION ORDER until the 9th of January for your Thursday visit and your first weekend visit will be on the 3rd weekend which starts on January 17th. Please keep in mind that there is a 5th weekend in January, the weekend of the 31st of January, which is followed by the first weekend of February, so you get 2 back to back weekends at the end of this month and the beginning of February, which is only fair in a way, because you are missing the first weekend of January because of the way the holidays fell this year.
PLEASE REMEMBER, this advice is ONLY GOOD for those of you who are operating under a STANDARD TEXAS POSSESSION ORDER. Consult your order if you have something other than a Standard Order.

This is an update for all Fathers who have a standard possession order. You get the next 4 weekends in a row starting this weekend, which is the 5th weekend of May. You also get next weekend, which is the first weekend of June. The next weekend is Father's Day. The weekend after that is the 3rd weekend of June. Mothers won't get a weekend until the 4th weekend of June. Hopefully, this post will keep me from answering the inevitable questions that will come my way. I'll just say, see my Facebook post.

I remember being broke for Christmas one year after food shopping and paying the bills and wrote a post dated check to make sure I could provide a good Christmas for my family.I’ve lived as high and as low as it’s possible to go. There were times I’d put $10 worth of gas in my tank and other times $50. I’ve had $5 to just feed myself and I’ve also had $200 to go out to eat. I’ve had a house full of food and times I didn’t have any. I’ve been in stores cashing out with no worries and I’ve also had to add it up and put things back on the shelf. I’ve paid my bills in full and I’ve had to pay them late too. I’ve given money and I too have had to ask for it.
We all have highs and lows in life. Some certainly more than others, but we are all just trying to make it.
No one is better than anyone else and my heart is sad for those people who think that they are. No matter how big your house is, how new your car is, or how much money sits in your bank account - we all bleed red and will eventually fade from this earth. Death has no discrimination and neither should your life.
Be kind to others. We are all here to serve. Stop the power tripping. Your oversized ego won’t get you anywhere.
Be humble. And keep faith going.
Very few will actually read this far, but if you’re genuine I challenge you to copy. Most won’t, because they’re the type of people I’m talking about.
