An Arlington police officer is facing multiple charges after investigators say he sexually assaulted a woman while on duty.

According to the Arlington Police Department, 36 year old Derrick Dean was arrested on May 8 and charged with sexual assault and official oppression following an internal investigation.

Police say the investigation began after Dean responded to a call involving a woman on April 11. Investigators allege Dean later returned to the woman’s residence three separate times between April 17 and April 18 while still on duty, despite there being no additional calls for service connected to the visits.

Authorities say inappropriate sexual contact occurred during one of those encounters. Investigators also allege Dean intentionally covered his body camera during all three visits.

Dean was placed on administrative leave on April 21 as the investigation moved forward. Arlington PD says he has been employed with the department since 2016 and remains in custody while the investigation continues.
