Your friendly reminder to LOOK OUT FOR MOTORCYCLES. It’s perfect weather for a ride. Most of us are trained to see cars, not bikes. Many cagers that inadvertently maul bikers say the same thing: “I DIDNT SEE THEM”

Bikers: stay diligent, always wear a helmet and ride like you’re invisible… because you basically are.

Random advice from an injury lawyer:

1. If you don’t have UM/UIM on your personal auto policy, add it. It’s not much more in premium cost and protects you if adverse driver had no insurance or lacked enough insurance to cover your injuries. (PARAMOUNT IF YOURE A BIKER)
2. Collision coverage covers damage to your car/motorcycle regardless of who’s at fault.
3. After a collision do not speak with insurance reps without consulting with an attorney. Especially important if it was mid-intersection and/or severe collision.
3. Insurance companies train their reps and adjusters to ask qusrions that are not in your best interest. This includes your own company.
4. Get a dash cam.

LOOK TWICE - SAVE A LIFE. This is the time of year most of us love to ride in Texas.

In 2024, 2,534 Motorcycle riders were seriously injured or killed in the state of Texas.

In 2016 my Dad, Hank Bauer, the Biker Lawyer was included in that fatality statistic due to a blind curve and a woman rolling a stop sign outside of Bastrop while he was on the way to visit his best friend, who had been severely injured a year before on his motorcycle.

LOOK OUT FOR MOTORCYCLES.

People who don’t personally ride or know riders tend to overlook us regularly. I’ve worked dozens of cases where the cager simply states “I didn’t see them”

Riders stay diligent. Expect every car to pull out in front of you, as this is the most common type of crash I’ve seen occur working in the personal injury law business the past 18 years.
