Open Door Theatre

Open Door Theatre Open Door Theatre, founded in 1983. Frees children from violence and abuse by teaching safety skills through dramatic live performances. Mr.

Open Door Theatre uses four different interactive plays to teach children, grades K-8, personal safety rules to help them recognize, avoid and report abuse, bullying and sexual violence. The use of theater to teach these important skills offers specially trained actors and children an opportunity to connect in a safe and interactive environment. These shows help them understand the differences b

etween healthy and unhealthy touches and behaviors, bad secrets and good secrets and recognize personal boundaries. Children who view these empowering performances become active participants in helping the actors make good choices and decisions that help keep them safe. In the follow-up workshops, children are given an opportunity to practice and discuss the new skills they have learned. Seeing a huge need in this area, Seth Dawson, former Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney, worked with other child advocates to envision a way for children at risk of violence or abuse to seek help and to create an aid in preventing possible abuse . Dawson was one of Open Door Theatre's founders in 1983, and continues to serve as an advisory board member.
