Fall is here, and if you’ve been watching the real estate headlines lately, it can feel like there’s a new reason to panic every day.

Rates are moving. Inventory is changing. Buyers are becoming more selective. Sellers are adjusting prices. And suddenly everyone is asking, “What is happening with the market?”

The truth is, the fall market in Arlington Heights and Chicago looks different than it does in the spring and summer. There are typically fewer buyers, fewer new listings and a little more room for negotiation.

And you know what? That happens every year.

The biggest thing we can do as your agents is help you understand what’s actually happening, rather than letting every headline dictate how you feel about your home.

For sellers, that means being realistic about the season we’re in. Your home may not get 15 showings its first weekend. You may have to negotiate. You may need to adjust your price if the market is telling you something.

That doesn’t mean you’ve missed your window. It means expectations matter.

You have to price your home for the market you’re in, not the market you wish you were still in.

And for buyers, the same goes for you. Don’t let one scary headline convince you that you need to sit everything out. There are opportunities in every market. Sometimes they just look a little different.

Our job isn’t to tell you everything is perfect. It’s to help you understand what’s happening, make smart decisions and feel confident about the ones you make.

So as we head into fall, take a breath.

The market is changing. It does that.
