📚 Read Across America Week 📚

Attorney Justin Wilson had the pleasure of visiting Ms. Beason’s first grade class at Wellborn Elementary School this week to read with the students and celebrate the importance of literacy.

It was a wonderful group of first graders and a great reminder of how much excitement books can bring to young readers.

The visit was especially meaningful because two members of the class, Hattie and Harper, are part of Justin’s family. Getting to read to their class made the morning even more special.

Thank you to Ms. Beason and the students at Wellborn Elementary for the warm welcome and for letting us be a small part of Read Across America Week.

LaPlante Faulkner Wilson Murphy & Clay is expanding our Personal Injury and Civil Litigation practice and we’re looking for a dedicated full-time Paralegal to join our growing team.

We currently have three paralegals supporting our criminal, family, and bankruptcy divisions. As our newest team member, you will specialize in personal injury and civil litigation, working closely with attorneys to manage cases from intake through resolution.

🔍 Position Overview

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced legal environment. Prior PI or civil litigation experience is preferred, but we are open to candidates with strong general litigation backgrounds.

💼 Key Responsibilities

Drafting and reviewing legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence

Managing case files and discovery

Communicating with clients, insurance adjusters, and medical providers

Preparing demands and assisting with settlement negotiations

Scheduling depositions, mediations, and court deadlines

Supporting attorneys throughout all stages of litigation

From Calhoun County to the Supreme Court 🇺🇸⚖️

Today, Justin Wilson of our firm appeared before the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C., where he had the honor of moving for the admission of Ben Elrod, an attorney from another Calhoun County firm, to the Bar of the Supreme Court. Wilson and Elrod were able to appear before all nine Justices.

Wilson and Elrod remained in the courtroom afterward to observe oral arguments — a rare and unforgettable experience for any lawyer.

The trip began Friday evening with dinner alongside Marshall Ghee, a fellow Calhoun County native and attorney now serving with the U.S. Department of Energy. It was a reminder that no matter how far from home we travel, Alabama connections run deep.

We’re proud to see our attorneys representing Calhoun County and the State of Alabama at the highest level of the legal profession — from our local courthouses to the steps of the Supreme Court
