As President of the Anne Arundel Estate Planning Council, Jessica L. Walsh recently attended the NAEPC Regional Leadership Conference in Philadelphia, where estate planning council leaders from across the country gathered to share ideas, exchange best practices, and strengthen their organizations. Jessica was joined by fellow industry professionals Nicole Livingston and Justin Roudiez for a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, collaborate with other council leaders, and bring fresh insights back to our local estate planning community.

As more of our lives move online, digital assets have become an important part of estate planning. From email accounts and social media profiles to cloud storage, online banking, and cryptocurrency, these assets often hold significant financial and personal value.

Maryland's Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act (MFADAA) provides a framework for fiduciaries to access certain digital accounts after death or incapacity, but the law is only part of the equation. Thoughtful planning, clear estate planning documents, and an up-to-date inventory of digital assets can make a significant difference for loved ones and fiduciaries navigating the administration process.

In our latest article, co-authored by Gregory Ferra and Sarah Keagy, we explore how digital assets fit into modern estate planning and share practical steps Maryland residents can take today to better protect their digital legacy.

Christmas in July may be over, but the joy it brings lasts much longer.

This summer, the teams at Liff, Walsh & Simmons and Eagle Title came together to support patients at Luminis Health Health Pediatric Oncology. Through fundraising efforts, assembling The Jared Box Project filled with toys and activities, and collecting brand-new toys for children receiving treatment, we were able to help bring a little extra comfort, distraction, and joy to young patients and their families.

Giving back to our community is at the heart of what we do, and this annual tradition is one we look forward to every year. Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make a difference.

We love spreading joy, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support these incredible children each summer.
