Washtenaw County Bar Association

Washtenaw County Bar Association "The Washtenaw County Bar - It's Where You Belong" In addition to being the local bar association for attorneys in Washtenaw County, we also have a Lawyer Referral Service available to the public.

Need A Lawyer? Call (734) 996-3229 for the Lawyer Referral and Information Service of the Washtenaw County Bar Association. It's always a good idea to check with a lawyer before you make an important decision - whether you're buying a house, making a business deal or settling a dispute. A short talk with a lawyer often tells you all you need to know. THERE IS A $30 FEE FOR THE FIRST HALF-HOUR CONSULTATION. Fees for additional services after the first half-hour are arranged between you and the lawyer. Last year, over 1200 people used our service.

Mission: The mission of the Washtenaw County Bar Association is: * To insist upon the highest standards of civility and ethical integrity of all participants in the legal process; * To improve public understanding of the legal system, the substantive law and the role of lawyers; * To pursue diversity and foster a sense of community among Association members; * To advance professional development and excellence through educational programs and services for its members; * To promote affordable access to the justice system through traditional and non-traditional means; and * To work with the bench to improve the effectiveness and fairness of the legal system.

Attention WCBA Bar Members, I just received notice that the State Bar of Michigan representatives are meeting tomorrow with the MSC Justices (and others on a task force) to discuss emergency changes to current laws due to COVID-19. There are recommendation being put forth that include changes to the remote notary law and fee waiver laws already, among others. Please send me any laws that you feel should be changed and give the reason why and state how they should be altered so that I can forward them to the State Bar staff. I know that you’re busy your input is invaluable. So please email your changes, reasons and solutions to me, your State Bar commissioner, at [email protected]. If you have already shared them with a section leader, please do not duplicate them to me. I hope you are staying home and as safe as possible. Michigan State Bar Commissioner Erane Washington
I just tried to file something in the Washtenaw County Circuit Court but the clerk's offices were closing due to a toxic chemical smell. Is there any news as to when they will reopen?
I believe Michigan's law governing special assessments for roads is unfair. Shouldn’t all people included in a Special Assessment have equal say in whether a petition for road improvements passes or fails when they are required to equally share the costs of those improvements? This is the link to my opinion. Please read it and if you agree, please let Governor Whitmer know by signing the petition. Also, please feel free to share this post on social media so other people will consider whether the current law on special assessments for roads is fair. Thank you.
The gala may have been cancelled but my wife and I are enjoying a great time at Weber’s anyway!
Anyone open to a referral of a mixed family law & immigration issue? Private message me.
Loving the brand new website that local web guru extraordinaire Shana Victor designed for me!!! (Thanks again, Louise-Annette, for suggesting her!) If any attorneys out there are considering a renewed or brand new website, Shana is the one to call! http://JustMichiganAppeals.com
