Now, more than ever, is the time to make sure that we are supporting our communities and local families. We were happy to attend the Chelsea Community Fair Livestock Auction last night and we were the winning bidders for the Grand Champion Steer raised by Reid Schneider, the son of Dan & Ali Schneider. We were then able to donate the steer for processing to the St. Louis Center for boys just outside of Chelsea. A local residential community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We also were the successful bidders for the Grand Champion Pair of Market Hogs raised by Heidi Fuchs!
And of course because we try and it keep in balance, Tricia's farm roots and Michelle's vegetarian lifestyle, we were the successful bidders for Sloan Steele's (parents Pat & Jennifer Steele) feeder calf Corn Dog who will be coming to the "Looney Bin" at Starry Skies to live his life out as a pet! Because everyone needs a pet Brown Swiss steer named Corn Dog! :)
It was a great night to see old friends and the continuation of traditions in the many local farming families who year after year keep the "Community" in the Chelsea Fair.
Interested in meeting Corn Dog? Visit Starry Skies Equine Rescue and Sanctuary on their next open barn day and come out and support some horses.
