It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sara Jean Bradley Jones on December 15, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late J. Fletcher Jones, who passed away in 2021, and a devoted mother to John F. Jones, Jr.

Jean earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama, majoring in English with a minor in Social Studies. Jean taught at Albertville High School, Tuscaloosa Junior High School, Andalusia High School, Lockhart Junior High School and Red Level High School. She loved teaching, and in later years, attended many of the class reunions where she enjoyed reconnecting with her former students. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia, where she spent many years teaching children’s Sunday school and playing the piano for them. Jean was also a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She lived a life marked by grace, humility, and a relentless pursuit of sharing Christ’s love. She touched countless lives with a kind and compassionate heart.

With Veterans Day approaching, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who have served in our armed forces. Their commitment in defending our freedoms and protecting our nation deserves our deepest respect and gratitude. We recognize the resilience and bravery of those who have answered the call to serve, often facing great personal sacrifice. To our veterans: thank you for your service, your strength, and your unwavering devotion to our country.

Our office pays special tribute to J. Fletcher Jones, a WWII U.S. Navy Seabees veteran, who opened his law practice in 1953—a practice that would eventually become Jones & Jones.

As Memorial Day approaches, we remember the brave men and women who have served in our nation's armed forces and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. As we enjoy time with friends and family, let us not forget their service and sacrifice.

It saddens us to announce that J. Fletcher Jones passed away on February 20, 2021, at the age of 94. Fletcher graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Fletcher moved to Andalusia in 1953 and opened his law firm. He served as a State Representative in the Alabama Legislature from 1958-1966. Fletcher was a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Covington County Bar Association for over 67 years. He was also a long standing member of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association.

Throughout Fletcher’s 60 plus years of practicing law, he devoted countless hours of pro bono services to those less fortunate. A mentor to many lawyers in the county, Fletcher was a tremendous source of wisdom, humor and insight about what it means to be a good person, not just a good lawyer. He will long be remembered as an aggressive and determined advocate for the rights of his clients.
