Tax tip: DId you know as a small business owner you can make pre-tax contributions into a SEP-IRA? A SEP is a retirement plan based on an individual retirement account (IRA) into which business owners can make pre-tax contributions for both themselves and their eligible employees. It is ideally suited for self-employed workers, freelancers, and small-business owners because it's easy to establish and administer. Your contributions to each employee's SEP-IRA for a year cannot exceed the lesser of 25 percent of the employee's compensation for the year or a dollar amount that is subject to cost-of-living adjustments. Talk to your accountant or financial advisor to see who you can save on your taxes, and save for your future.
