I’ve seen clients breathe differently once their bankruptcy case is over.

For a long time, every paycheck has already had a destination—catching up on bills, answering collection calls, or trying to keep up with balances that never seem to go down.

When that chapter finally closes, the work doesn't stop. That's when the rebuilding begins.

My advice is simple: don't treat the discharge as permission to start spending again. Treat it as an opportunity to build a financial life that doesn't put you back in the same position.

A clean slate is valuable. What you do with it matters even more.

“What happens if my car is about to be repossessed?”

Falling behind on payments can happen for many reasons, and a repossession notice can make an already stressful financial situation even harder.

Depending on your circumstances, bankruptcy may provide protections that can temporarily stop certain collection actions, including repossession efforts. However, filing bankruptcy does not automatically guarantee that you can keep your vehicle.

My advice? Don’t wait until your car is already gone before learning what options may be available to you. Understanding your rights and choices early can help you make a more informed decision.

If you're facing a possible repossession, talk to an attorney about your situation and your legal options.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that "liquidation bankruptcy" means you'll automatically lose everything you own. In reality, that's not how Chapter 7 works for most people.

Understanding what the term actually means can help you make informed decisions instead of relying on common myths. If you're considering bankruptcy, start by learning the facts.

Before working with any company, take the time to research its reputation, ask questions, and read the fine print. If a company promises results that sound too good to be true or asks for large upfront fees, that's a sign to proceed with caution. Making an informed decision today can help you avoid bigger financial problems tomorrow.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is, "I have a judgment against me, so they'll take every dollar that comes my way."

The reality is that the law isn't always that simple. Whether certain funds can be garnished depends on the type of payment, who the creditor is, and the protections that may apply.

That's why I always encourage people not to assume the worst. Before giving up or making decisions based on something you've heard, take the time to understand your rights and your legal options.

The right information can make all the difference.

"No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another."

Many people walk into my office carrying more than just financial debt—they're carrying stress, fear, uncertainty, and the weight of feeling like they're out of options.

My job isn't just to explain the law. It's to help lighten that burden, guide my clients through the process, and remind them that a fresh start is possible.

Helping someone regain peace of mind is one of the most meaningful parts of being an attorney.

Every Fourth of July reminds me that freedom comes in many forms.

For some, it's celebrating with family and friends. For others, it's the hope of finally being free from overwhelming debt, constant collection calls, and financial stress.

Helping people find that fresh start is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and meaningful Independence Day. Happy Fourth of July! ❤️🤍💙

Stepping into the second half of 2026 is a reminder that every chapter brings new opportunities to grow, learn, and move forward.

I’ve seen that progress does not always happen overnight. It comes from taking one step at a time, making informed decisions, and continuing to show up even during challenging seasons.

The second half of the year is a chance to reflect on where we’ve been, refocus on where we want to go, and continue building toward the goals ahead.

Here’s to new opportunities, continued growth, and making the rest of 2026 count.

One of the things I appreciate about being part of the legal community is the opportunity to step outside the day-to-day work and connect with fellow attorneys in a different way.

The Florida Bar Convention was a great reminder that while our profession requires focus, dedication, and hard work, it also creates moments to celebrate the people behind the practice.

A highlight this year was getting to enjoy a performance by Walker Hayes, including his hit “Fancy Like” — a fun way to wrap up an event filled with learning, collaboration, and connection.

Grateful for the experiences.
