Exploitation of the elderly and developmentally challenged is a major epidemic. Read this article and learn about a proposed rule that has been presented to the SEC for approval which will allow financial brokers to report concerns of exploitation and financial abuse regarding customers who are 65 years of age or older OR who are over 18 years old and have a physical/mental impairment that “renders the individual unable to protect his or her own interests.”

Measure requires brokers to establish trusted contacts on accounts and allows them to stop distributions in questionable circumstances.

Pet Trusts are now legal in all 50 states. Minnesota was the final state to enact legislation to allow for a trust to be set up to pay for the care and maintenance of an owner's surviving fur baby(ies).

Florida has allowed Pet Trusts for a number of years now. Florida law states that a trust may be created to provide for the care of an animal alive during the settlor's lifetime. The trust must terminate on the death of the animal it was established for, or in the event the trust was created to provide for the care of multiple pets alive during the settlor's lifetime then it must terminate on the death of the last surviving animal.
You can establish Pet Trust to take effect during your lifetime or upon your passing in either a living trust or your last will and testament. This is a great thing for many pet owners because we consider our pets to be a part of the family. The ability to create such a trust can provide comfort and peace of mind in knowing that you can set funds aside to continue to take care of your fur babies upon your passing.
